ATASCADERO CERT TRAINING COURSES

Atascadero CERT provides hands-on disaster training to prepare residents for earthquakes, wildfires, seasonal flooding, and other emergencies and disasters. Volunteers gain practical skills to protect themselves, their families, and their community.

CERT BASIC TRAINING COURSE

The CERT Basic Training Course equips participants with hands-on skills in fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, and team organization. This training prepares residents to protect themselves, their families, and their neighbors during disasters and emergencies when professional responders may be delayed. Emphasis is placed on self-reliance, safety, and teamwork.

Basic Training Topics:

→ Disaster preparedness and community response roles

→ Fire safety and utility controls

→ Medical operations, including treating life-threatening conditions, triage, burns, fractures, and more

→ Light search and rescue techniques

→ CERT organization, team coordination, and communication

→ Disaster psychology and community support

Course Details:

→ Minimum age to participate: 15 years of age

→ Participants receive a CERT Student Manual and a Certificate of Completion

Beyond the basic course, Atascadero CERT offers advanced and continuing education to strengthen volunteer capabilities. Advanced training topics may include:

→ Emergency Radio Communications

→ Traffic & Crowd Management

→ Pet Safety

→ ...and more! Additional training in partnership with SLO County CERT programs.
